Rishi joined residents at the Catterick and Tunstall Village Fete to support one of the village’s most popular annual community events.

Rishi spent time meeting stallholders, volunteers and families who gathered on the village green for an afternoon of entertainment, fundraising and community activities.

The fete featured a wide range of attractions, including a raffle, tombolas, a barbecue, local craft stalls, games, face painting and a bouncy castle, alongside displays from local groups and businesses.

During the event, Rishi spoke with organisers about the work that goes into staging the annual fete and the role it plays in bringing together residents from across the community.

Rishi said:

“Village fetes are a great example of community spirit in action. They bring people together, support local causes and create opportunities for neighbours, friends and families to spend time together.

“It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the day and I would like to thank everyone who helped organise the event, volunteered their time, ran a stall or came along to support it.”

This year's fete was organised around the theme ‘Support us so we can support you’, with funds raised helping to support the ongoing work of St Anne’s Church and the community activities it hosts throughout the year.

Rev Peter King said:

“The village fete takes a huge amount of hard work but seeing so many people come together makes every bit of it worthwhile. So many people give their time to help in all sorts of ways, and that shared effort creates a real sense of belonging and community beyond the walls of the church”.

“It was also a real privilege to welcome Rishi Sunak, who took time to look around, talk to so many people and support everyone who made the fete successful.”
