Rishi has congratulated the organisers of this year’s Scruton Fest.
Opening the event on the village’s playing fields, the Richmond and Northallerton MP said the annual event near Northallerton was “a wonderful celebration of everything that makes the village such a great community”.
Rishi formally opened the event which was originally the village fete but became Scruton Fest a few years ago with the introduction of live music in the evening.
He said: “This is a fourth time I have attended and each year the organising team surpass themselves with the quality of the event. There was something for everyone.”
The field was filled with a range of stalls, refreshment providers, a vintage bus bar and an inflatable assault course.
The event’s chosen charity to be showcased was the men’s mental health support service, Andy’s Man Club.
Mark Gatenby, of the organising committee, said: “The team is very happy with the event this year and send huge thanks to Rishi and all who attended as the money raised goes to the upkeep of the playing fields and the church.”
Next year’s festival is on June 26.
