Rishi has praised the refurbishment of a Northallerton care home.
The extensive improvements at Mount Vale Care Home in Yafforth Road have included a dedicated cinema room.
The Richmond and Northallerton MP was given a tour of the updated home by manager Trudi Gillespie and joined a group of residents over tea, coffee and cakes.
He was impressed by the facilities provided for residents and particularly the home’s specialist dementia care area.
He said: “Mount Vale has a very special atmosphere. It feels like a family home and residents are well supported by the staff.
“The refurbishment is high quality and the dementia care seems excellent. Creating a ‘Memory Lane community’ within the home to provide residents with the best environment for those affected by the condition is very impressive.”
Ms Gillespie said it had been a privilege to welcome Rishi to Mount Vale.
She said: “What an absolute honour it was to meet Rishi and to introduce him to our brilliant team and our fantastic residents, everyone very much enjoyed chatting to Rishi and showing off our beautiful home to him.
“We all really appreciated him taking the time to come and visit us, and we very much hope he’ll come back and visit us again soon.”
Mount Vale – which used to be the town’s maternity hospital – is part of the Barchester group, a nationwide care company with 260 homes.
