Rishi has praised a long-standing North Yorkshire business partnership that is helping major employers manage energy costs and strengthen day-to-day operations.
Visiting JT Atkinson and Yorwaste sites in Northallerton, alongside Energy Oasis Founder, Mike Kaye, Rishi saw how more than ten years of collaboration has delivered practical savings for the well-established firms in the construction supply and waste sectors.
Discussions centred on how sustained investment in on-site energy systems has helped both companies bring down running costs and gain greater certainty over their energy costs.
JT Atkinson has invested in site-wide upgrades including solar installations and modern LED lighting, part of a wider programme rolled out across several of its locations. At Yorwaste, similar work has been introduced across North Yorkshire sites, with a continued emphasis on controlling costs in an energy-intensive industry.
The shared message from all three organisations was that steady, planned investment rather than short-term fixes has produced measurable financial benefits while allowing both businesses to continue expanding and supporting jobs locally.
Mike Kaye, Founder and Director of Energy Oasis, said:
“It was a real honour to have Rishi visit two of Energy Oasis’ long-standing clients in North Yorkshire. We have been working with JT Atkinson and Yorwaste for over 10 years. What started as a practical cost-cutting project has helped both businesses become leaders in energy efficiency in their sectors. Having Rishi here to see how this works in practice was extremely valuable.”

“It’s impressive to see established North Yorkshire businesses working in partnership over many years to improve how their sites operate. This is about practical improvements, careful planning and businesses investing in their own long-term future and that’s good for local jobs.”
