RICHMOND MP Rishi Sunak faced Question Time with primary school pupils during a recent visit.
The children from all year groups fired a series of questions at the MP at a special assembly arranged for his visit to Aiskew, Leeming Church of England Primary School.
The questions ranged from how he became an MP to what he most liked and disliked about the job.
He was shown around the school by members of the school council – George and Annabel Nicholson, Dylan Doherty, Edie Cooper and Katie Kettlewell.
He enjoyed eating lunch of fish fingers, roast potatoes and peas with the pupils and also the school’s headteacher Stephen Simper and teaching assistant Karen Anwar.
Pupils from the Eagles year groups 5 and 6 also screened a video they had made about British values, highlighting the importance of democracy, tolerance, individual liberty, the rule of law and mutual respect.
Mr Sunak said: “I was most impressed with the pupils’ questions, the thought which gone into the video and with the very caring atmosphere at the school.
“It was great to witness their enthusiasm and their obvious pride in the school.”
Mrs Anwar, who had helped organise the visit, said: “The children loved having Mr Sunak and he was so good with them. They were talking about it for days afterwards.”
