Rishi has praised a new local produce vending concept launched by two farmers in Stokesley.

The new Flaming Farmers outlet, located in the forecourt of the Millbry Hill equine and country store, opened recently.

While farm vending machines are now not uncommon, the range of foods available at the new Stokesley outlet is much bigger than previously available in North Yorkshire.

Founded by Joe Dugdale of Crathorne Farms and Alex Greensit from Masham, Flaming Farmers was created to help farmers diversify, retain more value from what they produce, and give customers convenient access to high-quality local food.

The new Stokesley site builds on that vision, offering a wide range of locally-sourced produce, including milk, cream, eggs, cuts of meat, and frozen ready meals.

The vending units are housed in purpose-built containers and operate as a self-service farm shop. Customers can pick up produce around the clock, and a new hot drinks machine allows visitors to enjoy fresh coffee.

During his visit, RIshi met Izzy Liversedge and Kirsten Barningham from Flaming Farmers, who explained how the business is working with local suppliers to create a sustainable retail model that benefits both producers and consumers.

They also discussed the group’s plans to expand to further sites across North Yorkshire.

Speaking after the visit, Rishi said:
"It’s encouraging to see local farming businesses adapting, collaborating, and finding creative ways to reach customers. Projects like this don’t just keep money in the local economy, they also strengthen the connection between our communities and the people who produce their food."

Joe said:

“We were delighted to show Rishi Sunak around the very first Flaming Farmers vending outlet. Ever since Rishi became MP for Richmond in 2015, he has been a vocal and active supporter of local agriculture, and we appreciate all he does for the farming community. All this exceptional produce comes direct from our local farms giving customers the confidence that every penny spent directly supports us and our amazing teams. “
