Rishi visited Southwoods Nursing Home in Northallerton, spending time with residents, families and staff during an afternoon of autumn crafts.
Southwoods Nursing Home, part of the Caring and Leading Homes Group, provides residential and nursing care for 32 residents, including a small dementia unit.
During the visit, Rishi joined residents in a wreath-making workshop as they created decorations in the dining room with residents, family and the dedicated care team led by manager Helen Lewis.
Rishi also drew the home’s raffle and met their much-loved Pets as Therapy dog, who is a regular source of comfort and companionship for residents.
Rishi said:
“Southwoods is filled with warmth, care and community. Spending time with the residents, hearing their stories, the craft session and seeing the wonderful work the team puts in every day has been a real pleasure”.
“Homes like this are at the heart of how we support older people, and it’s clear the staff here are dedicated to giving residents the dignity, comfort and joy they deserve.”
Rishi also met home-owners Mr Om Gupta and Dr Vivek Gupta, who shared the group’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care across their seven homes.
Dr Gupta said:
Rishi’s visit was a moment of real pride for our residents, our team and our family. The way he engaged with everyone, listening to stories, taking part in the crafts, sharing time with residents, showed genuine care”.
“For my father, who founded our first home after a lifetime of hard work and sacrifice, meeting with Rishi was deeply meaningful. It was a day none of us will forget.”
