Rishi visited a Catterick Garrison community centre to support its efforts to attract more users.
The Bridge provides a service for elderly residents to socialise, enjoy activities, and receive support in a welcoming environment.
Rishi joined attendees and staff to hear about the positive difference the centre makes to their lives.
Rishi said: “The Bridge is a fantastic hub that provides vital support and companionship. It’s clear how much attendees value the friendships and activities here, and I encourage anyone who could benefit from this wonderful service to try it.”
Jacqueline Brackenberry, centre manager, said: “It was nice to have Rishi visit us again. Our members enjoyed chatting with him about all sorts of topics, among them how much we would like to see more people attend our day service.
“Everyone who attends enjoys the company, food, and activities. We know from those who use our service what a relief it is for carers and relatives knowing they can have a few hours a week to catch up on jobs, attend appointments or meet with a friend for coffee.”
The centre, formerly known as the St John’s Centre, was relaunched in 2018 by Mr Sunak .
However, attendance numbers declined during and since the pandemic. The Bridge is now actively seeking to welcome new clients.
The Bridge, in Shute Road, Catterick Garrison, currently operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as a day centre. The centre also offers a Carers break service allowing carers a few hours away from caring responsibilities.
