Northallerton Bowling Club welcomed Rishi to a celebration of the club’s 125th anniversary.
Rishi was welcomed by Club President, Bernard Eland, and Chairman, Peter Walker, before receiving a tour of the ground.
During the tour, Rishi heard of the club’s history, from its foundation in 1900 and its development as a thriving part of the local community.
The visit continued to the green, where Rishi was introduced to players from both the men's and women’s teams, before playing an end of bowls.
In recognition of the occasion, Rishi was presented with a commemorative '125 Shirt', specially designed for the club’s anniversary, by team captains Brian Wilkes and Cressida Fordy.
Rishi’s visit followed the official green opening held on 12th April, marking the start of the club’s 2025 season, with league matches beginning in May.
The club has grown significantly over the years, supporting both competitive and social play and offering opportunities for members of all ages and abilities.
Speaking after the visit, Rishi said: “It was a real privilege to join Northallerton Bowling Club as they celebrate their 125th year. The club has played a vital role in the community for generations, providing good sport and friendship.
“I was delighted to meet members and try my hand on the green. I congratulate the club on this wonderful milestone and wish them every success for the season ahead.”
Men’s team captain, Brian Wilkes said “It was a real pleasure to welcome Rishi to our Bowls Club as we celebrated our 125th year. Members enjoyed meeting Rishi, and we thank him for his interest in our Club’s rich history and the successes we have had over recent years in increasing our membership.”
