Britain's future in or out of Europe topped the agenda at an Age UK coffee morning in Northallerton.

Rishi spent a morning talking to the older people who use the centre in the High Street and the volunteers who help run it.

He said: "It was great to talk to all people who came to the event. They had lots of interesting points to make but, perhaps not surprisingly, the major topic of conversation was the forthcoming EU referendum."

Rishi praised the work of Age UK North Yorkshire which provides a range of services to help older people to get the most out of life.

He added: "Age UK North Yorkshire does a great job and I was most interested to hear about its work and services."

Hazel Cambers, who is a trustee of Age UK North Yorkshire said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Sunak to our Northallerton office to meet some of the older people from the area who are being supported to continue enjoying later life.

"Essential to the work of our charity is to ensure that older people who have made a lot of contribution to society, are not ignored or neglected in their later life, instead continue to thrive with some support.”
