Rishi has settled the future of Northallerton's Friarage Hospital after opening its new surgical hub.
He secured the Government funding required to build the £30.5m operating theatres complex which doubles the number of surgical procedures carried out at the hospital.
After campaigning to protect the hospital he said the range of services provided was continuing to grow and the future of the emergency service at the Friarage was also settled.
New services at the hospital in recent years have included new eye and kidney units, a diagnostics unit and the Sir Robert Macmillan Cancer Centre.
The Friarage is now considered a model for how a small rural hospital can operate effectively.
When Rishi first became MP the future of the hospital was in doubt and complete closure considered a possibility.
